2005 Two Brothers - Shiraz Viognier
Region:
Barossa
Percentages:
Shiraz 97%, Viognier 3%
Colour:
Dark red, crimson to black centre
Nose:
Lifted aromatics of mixed spices, pepper and cherries, some leather
abounds getting the juices going.
Palate:
Rich and full the palate explodes with cherries, spices and clean
acidity. This wine displays the best in Barossa Shiraz density and
intensity matched with fine French oak mid palate drive and finished
with the polish of a touch of Viognier to lift aromatics and drive
a cleaner finish to the palate. A lengthy after taste confirms the
level of quality that is achieved in this wine.
Vinification and maturation:
Not a new style of wine for either the Barossa or the world, with
the major Rhone Valley producers mastering this wine over many decades,
without letting on what their secret was!
Barossa Shiraz has a special place in the Australian palate with it's
density and sometimes assault on the senses, with the introduction
of a touch of Viognier the flavours and aromas become more polished
and refined with lighter hints of smaller components of spice and
leather being allowed to emerge from the raging body of the wine.
Open fermentation, basket pressing and maturation in old and new French
oak add to the complexity of this wine.
A wine that will be readily enjoyed as a young style will also compliment
the patient and reward with medium to long term cellaring. Creed are
therefore proud to present to you our first Two Brothers Shiraz Viognier.
